OLC achieves above average gain in NAPLAN

Last week we were contacted by David de Carvalho, CEO of ACARA, to inform us of an impending release of results from last year’s NAPLAN analysis. The Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA) recently announced schools that have been identified as having demonstrated substantially above average gain in reading achievement, as measured by NAPLAN and we are proud to say, we are one of the schools named.  A big thank you to our professional and dedicated staff who have been working very hard to help the students achieve this fantastic result.

To quote David in the email:
"On behalf of ACARA, I would like to extend my congratulations to you and your school community on this achievement. Improvement in student literacy and/or numeracy of this magnitude, as measured by NAPLAN, is significant and worthy of highlighting and acknowledging.”

The data measured tracks the results of students who were in Our Lady’s College for the Year 7 NAPLAN tests in 2016 against their improvement in the Year 9 tests two years later. This gives a measure of how much the individuals have improved over the period between the tests. These students are now our current Year 10 cohort.

Many thanks go out to the dedicated staff and parents of the OLC community in the support of our students achieving these incredible improvements.
